Ameila

Amelia is available through our Guardian Home Program, giving one lucky family the opportunity to welcome this exceptional girl into their home while she remains an important part of the SwissRidge breeding program.

Amelia is a Standard Poodle. She is currently living with one of our Imprint Trainers, where she is working on potty training and being socialized in a home environment.

Whoever adopts Amelia as a guardian dog will have a huge advantage, as she has already been introduced to the foundations of training and is gaining valuable experience living in a home. She is getting an excellent head start, which will make her transition into her new family that much easier.

Below is a summary from her trainer about her personality and experiences so far!

Apart from being gorgeous, Amelia has a wonderful personality! She always has a happy prance in her step, is goofy, playful, and intelligent.

 She loves a playful chase with Abigail (her sister) around the yard, occasionally slowing down to check in with me and get a drink of water. She can also be very relaxed outside, lying on the porch watching everything and waiting for the next game to begin. She loves going on walks around my neighbourhood and is happy to meet people along the way. She greets neighbours who pass us calmly, and if they stop to chat, Amelia sits or lays down until we are ready to continue on our way. She loves the attention she gets but is also just happy to be a part of the group. She listens very well to redirection when she gets a bit distracted on a walk but for the most part is always at my side.

She loves getting snuggled, giving kisses, and just having quiet time together. She likes quietly playing with a toy or chewing on a bully stick and generally doesn’t get into much trouble around the house.  She listens when she is called and is very attentive during training, picking up on commands quickly. She knows “in your crate” and runs in right away, then turns around waiting for her treat. She settles well in her crate and typically doesn’t bark in the house unless she needs out for a potty break.

Amelia is always up for an adventure, and is a very good passenger in the car. She lays down right away and is very quiet throughout the trip. She has been on several longer car rides with me (1hr) and is always well-behaved. She is sensitive to the motion of the car and will drool. She visited a friend’s house in the country with me and had a great time! She saw chickens, met my friend’s children, made a new dog friend, and had lots of space to run around and explore. She had a blast and didn’t cause any trouble in the yard or in the house. While we were inside, she played with some puppy puzzle toys and chewed on bully sticks quietly on the floor.

In summary, Amelia is a good puppy who will be a happy addition to any household.
