Abigail

Abigail is available through our Guardian Home Program, giving one lucky family the opportunity to welcome this exceptional girl into their home while she remains an important part of the SwissRidge breeding program.

Abigail is a Standard Poodle. She is currently living with one of our Imprint Trainers, where she is working on potty training and being socialized in a home environment.

Whoever adopts Abigail as a guardian dog will have a huge advantage, as she has already been introduced to the foundations of training and is gaining valuable experience living in a home. She is getting an excellent head start, which will make her transition into her new family that much easier.

Below is a summary from her trainer about her personality and experiences so far!

Can you say “copy & paste” of her sister?! Just as gorgeous as her sister Amelia, similar in so many ways, they are often referred to as the “twins” in my house. Yet, there are small differences that help tell them apart. Slightly larger than Amelia but just as fun, bubbly, loving, affectionate and enthusiastic about everything. Abigail tends to be a little more outgoing then Amelia. She tends to want to jump up when she is greeting you. She is a very confident and loving girl! She has made great improvement already with jumping and we continue to redirect her immediately so that she learns what is appropriate. Abigail is intelligent and playful, but takes her cues from Amelia about settling in the yard.  She has a higher energy level and is less focused into her training BUT once she has settled after a minute or two, she loves getting snuggled, giving kisses, and just having quiet time together. I would just say that initial burst of energy is more then her sister has. She likes quietly playing with a toy or chewing on a bully stick and generally doesn’t get into much trouble around the house.  She generally listens when she is called, but sometimes decides to come after you’ve already “disappeared” (walked around the corner).  She knows “in your crate” and runs in right away, then turns around waiting for her treat. She settles well in her crate and typically doesn’t bark in the house unless she needs out for a potty break.

Abigail is a very good passenger in the car. She lays down right away and is very quiet throughout the trip. She has been on several longer car rides with me (1hr) and is always well-behaved. She is sensitive to the motion of the car and will drool. She visited a friend’s house in the country with me and had a great time! She saw chickens, met my friends’ children, made a new dog friend, and had lots of space to run around and explore. She had a blast and didn’t cause any trouble in the yard or in the house. While we were inside, she played with some puppy puzzle toys and chewed on bully sticks quietly on the floor.

In summary, Abigail is a good puppy who will be a happy addition to any household.
