Petunia is a third generation poodle proudly born and raised at SwissRidge. She is a standard poodle out of Sedona and Grommet, two incredible dogs that have both contributed so much to my program. I also own her grandparents, Coco and Crumpet, along with many of her aunts and uncles. Petunia comes from a family I know inside and out, and I am proud to say that every one of them has passed their health testing. Knowing that her parents, grandparents, and so many of her close relatives have all been thoroughly tested gives me complete confidence in the strength of her lines, both vertically and horizontally.

From the start, Petunia stood out. I kept four puppies from her litter — Freya, Petunia, Tallulah, and Leida — and each one has grown into a special part of the SwissRidge family. Petunia and her sister Freya are especially close. They are like twins, often referred to as our “Thing 1 and Thing 2,” and they do everything together. They even went to imprint training side by side and have been best friends ever since.

Petunia is a wonderful mix of her parents’ qualities. From Grommet, she inherited a playful, confident, and fun loving nature. From Sedona, she gained a sweet, loving, and slightly sensitive side. The result is a dog who is balanced, adaptable, and an absolute joy to be around. She is outgoing and energetic, always ready for play and adventure, yet she also knows when to slow down and settle in for affection. She loves nothing more than lying down to be petted after a good romp outside.

One of the things that makes Petunia so charming is the way she moves. On trail walks, she hops through the fields like a rabbit, especially when the hay has grown tall. Watching her leap joyfully through the grass reminds me of Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, bouncy, happy, and full of life. Petunia never has a down day. She is always eager to play, and if one dog or person is not interested, she simply moves on politely to find another willing partner. She has an endless supply of love and enthusiasm.

On pack walks, Petunia can usually be found tagging along near her people, never too far ahead or behind. And if she does go off with the pack, she is always the first to circle back and check in. 

Recently, Petunia had her first litter of puppies, and she amazed me as a first time mom. She was attentive, protective, and incredibly nurturing. She kept her puppies clean, well fed, and showered them with love. Watching her care for them so naturally was a proud moment for me, and I know she will continue to be a wonderful mother in the future.

Petunia is a dog who is everything I hope for in the SwissRidge line. She is fun, loving and confident with a personality that makes her a joy to be around. 

She has been fully health tested, and her health certificates are attached for your review. At SwissRidge, we complete thorough health testing on all of our dogs, including x-rays, DNA testing, and comprehensive physical exams performed by a licensed veterinarian to ensure we are breeding only the healthiest dogs who will go on to produce strong, healthy puppies.
