Ophelia is a beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog who I imported from Europe, and she has been such a special addition to my program and my life. She has a slightly smaller build than some of my other European Bernese, but she is every bit as stunning. Her pedigree is outstanding, filled with generations of dogs that have been carefully health tested and selected for their soundness. Her breeder is just as particular as I am when it comes to producing high quality Bernese, and like me, he does extensive testing to ensure the health of the dogs he raises.

Ophelia’s parents were thoroughly tested for hips, elbows, eyes, shoulders, heart, von Willebrand’s disease, and degenerative myelopathy. It gives me great peace of mind to know that the puppies she produces come from a lineage where health has been a priority for many generations, and where common breed ailments have been carefully screened for. Her pedigree is also filled with Champions and well known bloodlines, giving her both health and beauty in abundance. Longevity runs in her family as well. Her mother turned twelve last time I checked in with her breeder, which is a wonderful age for a Bernese. I also own her full brother Odin, and her other brother went to a breeder in the United States. I stay in touch with them, and I am proud to say that both her brothers passed their health testing. This gives me complete confidence in both her vertical and horizontal pedigree.

As impressive as her background is, what I treasure most about Ophelia is her personality. She is the sweetest dog, gentle and loving in a way that makes her so easy to be around. She loves attention and affection but is never pushy about it. She does not have the stubborn streak that can sometimes be seen in Bernese. Instead, she is polite, respectful, and always eager to please. She will lean against you for pets and affection, but she will not try to climb into your lap. She knows her place and respects your space, which makes her very easy to live with.

She gets along wonderfully with the other dogs. She will match any dogs energy. She is very playful with higher energy dogs. With calmer or older dogs, she knows to tone things down and will simply lay quietly beside them, never pestering or demanding more than they want to give. This shows how balanced and considerate she is.

Ophelia enjoys being active, but she does not need constant exercise or long daily runs. She is happy to go for a trail walk and enjoy the outdoors, but she is just as content to spend the day lying at your feet, soaking up pets and attention. She is, in every way, an easy dog to have by your side in everything you are doing. She has that go with the flow type of personality.

Ophelia has been fully health tested, and her health certificates are attached for your review.
