At SwissRidge, we believe that active dogs are healthy dogs. Physical and mental stimulation are woven into our dog’s daily routines, ensuring they thrive both in body and mind.
Each day, the dogs are divided into small play groups based on their personalities and enjoy 5–6 outdoor sessions, each lasting about 30 minutes. In addition, every dog goes on off-leash adventure along the SwissRidge trails. Groups of five dogs at a time run freely through our wooded paths and wide-open fields, chasing, playing, and exploring in a safe, natural setting. From May through October, the dogs also enjoy our heated in-ground saltwater pool. Swimming is an excellent form of exercise, especially for older dogs, as it builds strength while putting less strain on their joints.
Exercise is only half the story—we also make sure our dog’s minds stay sharp and engaged. Our trainer works with them on basic commands such as sit, down, stay, come, and leash walking, while also introducing tracking and scent work to certain dogs. To keep things fun for both dogs and staff, we host training competitions throughout the year. Each staff member selects a dog to work with daily, dedicating 30 minutes to exercise and training. Once the basics are mastered, the challenge is raised with training under distraction. We then have a fun competition with prizes at the end.
SwissRidge takes the health, fitness, and happiness of our dogs very seriously. After an active day filled with exercise, enrichment, and learning, our dogs retreat to their spacious runs, each with a comfortable bed where they can rest up for the next day’s adventures.
